Workshop agenda

Day 1 - Friday, June 11, 2010
We will meet at 9 am to get acquainted, discuss the workshop schedule and start photographing the magical, undulating Palouse landscape. After a midday tailgate picnic and a brief rest, we will set off to photograph some of the areas small towns. Then break for dinner at our cars while we wait for a vibrant Palouse sunset.

Day 2 - Saturday, June 12, 2010
We are up before daylight to be on site to photograph the sunrise raking across the rolling Palouse landscape. After a warming breakfast, we head out to photograph hills with subtle shades of browns and greens that constantly change as the sun dances across the land. We take a break midday, then continue on to capture the late afternoon and evening light as it sweeps over The Palouse. Our day will end with a tailgate dinner as we wait for another Palouse sunset.

Day 3 -- Sunday, June 13, 2010
Once more we are up early to capture the sunrise warming light across the vast Palouse. Following breakfast, we join the local townspeople as they honor our American war veterans in an outdoor Memorial Day ceremony. This is an excellent opportunity work in a photojournalistic style and to create a photo documentary of this memorial service. After a short rest, well head out to discover more of The Palouse’s gifts—perhaps rustic barns, vintage trucks, tractors, Americana yard ornaments, or local characters dallying on old-fashioned boardwalks. In the early evening we share time together tailgate picnicking while awaiting another memorable sunset.

Day 4 --Monday, June 14, 2010
On our last day, you have the option of getting up early for a final opportunity to explore more of The Palouse. Midmorning our group will meet for breakfast at a cafe in Colfax. Then we head back to the workshop headquarters to critique the slides and prints participants have brought before saying our good-byes, taking a group photo, and heading for home.
